SUCCESS YOU PODCAST
Ep 02: What's Your Worth
Your worth is the level of value you place on yourself. No one else determines how and what you feel about yourself. Time to find your worth!
Defining Worth
According to Dictionary (dot) com, worth means: having a value of, or equal in value to, as in money: This vase is worth 12 dollars.
As you will hear in episode 02 of the Success You podcast or read below, I needed to find my ‘worth’ to be happy and successful. Listen in or read how I discovered “What’s Your Worth.”
“Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of being.”

My Worth Story
Finding my ‘worth’ happened because of potential client(s). I had this client come to me and tell me I was the one she wanted to work with…BUT there was one stipulation. “What’s that I said?”
She said, “I must pay you for what you’re worth, not what you charge.” I said, “Okay, I don’t necessarily understand but I’ll give it a whirl.”
I started researching and saw that what she was proposing on paying me was 10x’s higher than what I’d been charging clients for years. I’d heard from several clients over the years that I was “cheap” and I wasn’t charging nearly enough for my time and talents. Nowhere near!
I know I’m not the best in the world, not even close to it. BUT…I know I have a tremendous heart. I know I give 120% on each and every project I work on.
I quickly started her project.
I quickly kept track of every resource—tool and program I used while working on and completing her project.
I started plugging in my courses, planners, and mentors I’d worked with over the years. And let me tell you, there were many.
“It’s better to fail while striving for something wonderful, challenging, adventurous, and uncertain, than to say, ’I don’t want to try because I may not succeed completely.’”

Charging What Your Worth in Business
What I found is that by working on her project alone and being paid for what I was worth, I went from a 3-figure earner, to a 5-figure earner in less than 30 days! That had never happened. I went from a freelance business pulling my hair out and ready to throw the towel in to making $15-22,000 a month as a legitimate business for the first time in years. Years!
I could finally breathe knowing I could afford to take my children out to dinner at a restaurant we once enjoyed, all because I started to value my time and I started giving myself to others in a more business mindset. Because she believed in me, I believed in myself.
I know, it sounds weird and cliche…but I started attracting others who needed my assistance and were willing to pay top dollars for those services. It was because of the switch I made – knowing my worth.
Changing Your Worth Mindset
Then I started the switch to move toward passive revenue so I didn’t have to take every client. Because as a service provider, you can only take on as many clients as there are days, hours, and minutes. And, as a provider you know the battle of money—money rules your thinking. You know there are times you have to take a less than ideal client because you need the money. And so, once I made the switch and started generating passive income, providing resources and tools for others to do as I’ve done.
By generating passive income and valuing my worth, I was able to work with the clients I really wanted to work with for the money I deserved.
And then then the funny thing happened. Because I got less desperate (money mindset) and more sure of who I am and who I wanted to serve, it actually attracted more people! People were waiting in line to work with me. [Laughs] I guess the whole Law of Attraction really does work, when you are not coming from a desperate or money mindset.
Final Thoughts on Worth...
Doesn’t matter if you’re a writer, entrepreneur, business owner or are thinking of wanting to become a freelancer, entrepreneur or writer, marketer, etc… or you don’t fit the normal stereotype—I DIDN’T EITHER!
Your worth is not determined by anyone else. You get to decide what you are worth! Period. End of discussion (insert smiley / love emoji).
When I made the decision to value my worth, my life felt very different (in an amazing way). That moment, I got to say, “I get to work from home, be a writer, spend precious days and events with my three amazing children, and I get to enjoy financial security on my terms – because I am worth it!
I would encourage you or someone you know to sit and journal. Journal what your current ‘worth’ is, I bet it will surprise you. When I sat down on a friends recommendation to journal what my worth was, I was blown away! By journaling I found my worth and then my happiness increased ten-fold. When I was able to recognize my worth, my happiness increased and success followed.
And that is all because of the one moment in time I decided to say, “Alright, I am worthy of greatness. I can do this. I am valuable…time to share my talents and gifts with others.”
