Mindset Hacks Intro
Okay, welcome guys. Today we’re going to be talking about mindset hacks. We’re going to break through the funk.
Okay? I just want to share that. Of course, anything that I’m talking about today is just for information purposes. You know, every effort has been made to make this as complete, and accurate as possible. However, there might be some mistakes. You may not always believe in what I’m saying or whatnot, and that is perfectly okay. This information is just for your information only really. So I’m not a doctor or anything like that.
This is just stuff that I’ve used in my own personal life to get me out of the funk. Okay, let’s get started. Okay, so we’ve all had that moment, you know, the day is dark hours, took away at a snail’s pace and all you want to do is remain being binge watching the game of Thrones or The Office, or you want to hide under the covers of your bed, right?
3 Mindset Hacks (Options)
- Stay in your funk.
- Look for a motivational or inspirational quote.
- You can listen (or read) for a few minutes to this episode.
Start looking for a motivational quote, a Gif of sunshine, the loudest self-proclaimed motivational speaker, and then pray you’ll no longer be in your funk or three. You can just listen for the next few minutes and see if it helps. That’s right you to help you get out of your bunk. You start with mindset hacks. You break through the funk.
Okay, so let’s take a look at my funky 2005 life. I wanted to write a book but wasn’t sure what to write about and the thought of sitting staring at a blinking cursor filled me with dread. Oh Man. Or even worse, I started and then stopped out of fear. I did this hundreds of times in 2005 I was in a funk, a funk. They kept me stuck and unhappy. For years I was envious at all the other successful writers, dreamers and doers who weren’t in a funk.
Mindset Hack to Beat Fear
They weren’t allowing fear to hold them back. They were doing. I was not and I felt like I would never be able to get my book published or do anything cause I was in such a funk.
But one day as I was reading yet another book on success, I had an epiphany. How many people have read books upon books upon books, upon books, right? But then you get this one book and it clicks.
Okay. I realized that my problem was more than fear. It was my mindset was funky and the minute I began changing my mindset… .
My funky days disappeared and I wrote my book. I’ve since published a lot of books, but that’s beside the point. With a little bit of work, I was able to restructure my mindset so that it broke my funk and I accomplished goals, broke through fears and no longer had excuses because of my trial and error.
Mindset: De-Funk Hacks
You now can have a little bit of my de-funking methods. So are you ready? Let’s get started with mindset hacks, real people using real tips that work.
Mindset Hack #1
Okay, so hack one, and I know we’ve all heard this, don’t give up. Life is what you make of it, okay? But to live the best life possible, you need to look deep within yourself. You need to do everything in your power to make the most of each day.
Even the days of funk, when life throws curve balls…dang, you pick them up and you throw them back. When life gives you lemons what do you do? You make lemonade or better yet you can throw lemonades too or you can throw lemons when life turns ugly.
Breathe, smile and tell yourself the ugly day is only temporary. Everything only lasts for a short amount of time.
And I completely understand those that have really, really bad funky days who are going through depression and other um… Sadnesses I completely understand that. I mean, I’ve been there, a lot of us have been there, but today we’re talking about just trying to get out of that, that ugly funk. Okay.
Mindset Hack #2
Mindset hack number two, SQUASH FEAR! Nothing will destroy happiness or prevent you from achieving it like fear.
Okay, we’ve all heard this, right? We’ve all been privileged to fear at some point in our life and so let’s see if we can get out of that fear. There are many types of fear that people experience. It can hold them back. The fear of failure is the biggest one. Mistakes and failures will happen, but so can success. Right? Life is about trials, errors and mistakes.
Sometimes we have a lot of those before we finally find success…in relationships, money and business or in your job. Some of the most successful people in the world hit rock bottom. Here are a few ways to overcome fear.
They had hundreds of funk days. They never gave up on their ideas. With each failure they learned one way or more ways not to do what they were trying to achieve. Think of Steve Jobs or Thomas Edison Bell. We could write an entire book on success people in history who failed but won and there are books out there like that.
Being positive and moving through fear is critical. Think about the best case scenario that can result from your efforts. Think about the worst case scenario too…
Prepare for the best, but prepare for the worst. The funny thing about our fears is that they’re usually not as bad as a failure we had created in our minds, right?
When we face our fears, we become empowered and we move forward. If you are positive and out of a funk, you can actually obtain energy from your fears.
Anytime you start to feel negative or begin saying negative words about yourself or your situation, twist your words and thoughts into positives.
When you have positive thoughts and words, you will attract the success you really want. Focus on your victories, not your failures. If you’ve only reached part of your goal, you are still further than you were before you started.
Think about that for a moment. If you’ve only reached part of your goal, you are still further than you were before you started. Fear will keep you where you are, not where you want to be. Use fear to propel you to the next level, not hold you back.
Mindset Hack #3
Hack, number three…make a plan. If you can’t accept what you have in your life and be happy with it, then you need to make a plan for change to make you happier. What do you need to make you happy? Think about that for a moment. Maybe you need to improve relationships or you need more time for yourself and for your hobbies.
Accepting yourself and being positive can also be part of the plan for change. Here are some ways that you can do at this time. One of the biggest barriers for for change is time. People feel they just don’t have enough of it, right? By saying, no, you could have more time.
For change to occur, you have to be willing to embrace it. Change doesn’t come easy and it doesn’t and it, oops sorry. And it takes time and patience. You need a plan of action to help you get there.
For example, if you wanted to become more active, you have to develop a plan that allows you to exercise 30 minutes a day. Heck, if you don’t have 30 minutes, then say five minutes and then go to 15 minutes and then 17 minutes and then 19 minutes, 22 minutes, and then work your way up to 30 minutes a day.
Support, you know, go and get support and encouragement from family, friends, or from online groups. Let them know what you want to change and why. If you are surrounding yourself with good people, they will encourage you and be proud of your efforts.
Rewards have a way to track your progress and reward your efforts, right? If you are constantly working out day after day, two years off to something such as a new pair of shoes or a favorite coffee drink, you want the rewards to be consistent with what you have in place for your ultimate goal. Write it down. Your plan or action for change in a happier, you should be written down.
This makes it more concrete. Have a start date and an end date for reaching your ultimate goal. If the goal is large and longterm, break it down so you know you have many steps to achieve along the way.
Being able to celebrate a success will keep you motivated. Being able to see what your goal is, what you’ve and where you have to go is a huge motivator. Okay.
Mindset Hack #4
Hack number four, remove excuses. Oh, okay. Who has all who has said, I don’t have the time. If you don’t have time, build a plan that lets you leverage your time, right.
No matter how limited your time is, you can grab five or 10 minutes to what is important to you. If it’s important to play a video game, you always make time for that.
If it’s important to you to have a glass of wine, by golly, you’re always having a glass of wine. Correct. It’s amazing how much progress you can make if you devote 10 minutes of interrupted time to something important to you.
When you remove yourself from social media, TV bingeing, or laying around wishing you were doing something, you can nab five, 10, 15 minutes of uninterrupted productivity.
Who said, I don’t have the money …at every stage of our lives, there’s a trade off between financial resources and time resources. Correct. The best people make the most of whatever situation they’re in.
For most people, money is a factor holding them back from doing what they really want to do in life. If you want something bad enough, you make sacrifices. You don’t stop and get your extra large Frappaccino or or whatever your daily lunch out with coworkers or friends. Correct. So we can’t use, I don’t have the money excuse.
Another excuse is I don’t have all the knowledge and skills. Well, guess what? Neither does anyone else in the world. Okay? So what you need to do is you need to leverage the skills and the knowledge that you do have and then search for people who have skills and knowledge that compliment yours.
People love helping people most of the time you, but the thing is you just have to get started. That’s the most important thing. And the ultimate excuse… It’s just too hard. Well, here’s the deal. Life is tough.
A lot of things are tough in life. And imagine if things got worse. Say you lost your Internet access, your kids got sick and you lost your job, or your business failed. Imagine if you lost your eyesight. Wouldn’t you be grateful for the opportunities that you have right now?
Would you look back and wished that you hadn’t made excuses or would you be grateful you had the chance to do something that made you happy? Just think about that for a minute.
Would you be grateful for the opportunities that you have right now? Would you look back and wished that you hadn’t made excuses? Or would you be grateful you the chance to do something that made you happy? We can either make excuses and continue where we are or…or we can make a plan, take action and move forward.
Mindset Hack #5
And finally, hack number five…live your best life. What does live your best life mean?
Living your best life is the life you find enjoyment, happiness, and pure fulfillment. Okay? And that’s, that’s my humble opinion. That’s how I look at what best life really means.
One doesn’t need millions of dollars to be happy. Happiness and joy in life is defined differently for every person. What is it you need to live your best life? Here’s a few ways. I mean deliver your best life…You need to laugh.
And that we laughed the laugh out loud, ridiculously out loud. You know, you want to laugh until your cheeks hurt, your stomach aches, the tears are rolling down your face. You know, you might tinkle in your underpants a little bit, but you know what I mean? You know, laughter really does turn funky days into a fun day. And besides, it’s so much harder to frown than it is to smile.
If you think about it, you know, set daily goals. You know, self-improvement comes from within, which is why you need to work towards setting your goals each day.
You know, start small and always reward yourself for meeting a goal. If you don’t complete a goal, then don’t worry about it. Move on to tomorrow.
Face your fears…facing your fears. It could be heights, it could be snakes, spiders doing a podcast, writing an email. It doesn’t matter. You know, it’s, it’s one of the most liberating things you can do is to face your fear. You know, when you look your fear in the eye and you go for it, even though you feel like you might die, you never look back, right?
Like you can’t go back from it.
You only move forward, you know, have fun in life.
Life is not always about work, worry or stress. There has to be a balance. You must find a balance. You know, try to schedule something you love to do at least once a month. You know, this could involve drinks with friends, a movie with your special someone or you know just indulging in a day of you. It’s all about you day.
Make time for some hobbies. It’s important for people to have hobbies. You know, as we get older, and I’m older maybe than a lot of you that are listening. So, you know, we, we aren’t doing our extracurricular activities as much as we did when we were younger (maybe). You know, now we have marriages, divorces, relationships, jobs, kids, sporting activities, extracurricular activities.
It doesn’t matter.
We have so much going on in our life that by keeping your passions alive, you know, you reconnect with the hobbies and activities that you once loved. And it really does make for a less funky day.
You know, break the pattern. How many of us wake, work, home, gym, dinner, T v sleep. It’s the same pattern day after day. So break it up and try something different, you know try a spontaneity. It works and then, you know, just finding that balance, you know, it’s all about harmony.
Finding that perfect balance comes down to mind, body and spirit, you know, work on balancing all three to decrease your days of funk. And I know that sometimes sound sounds easier than it is, but as we work on it, trust me, it does get easier, you know?

And the main question comes down to, you know, are you happy? Maybe think you’re happy enough. Perhaps you have been unhappy and in a funk for so long that it seems like just a part of life.
Now is a time to mix things up and see that and see what materializes, you know, don’t let fear of the unknown or fear of failure hold you back. Time to break through your funk and live happy again. You know, don’t be worried about what others think.
As long as your efforts to be happy don’t hurt anyone else. Then hold your head up and confidently take part in them.
Do what you can to keep financial strive from, you know, reducing your level of happiness. You know, worrying about money can make it hard to be happy about much else.
For many people, for many people and, and I’m included in this, you know, just finding the courage to say no to numerous time draining commitments is a huge step forward. They feel more in control of the day. Heck, I felt more in control of my day when I could start saying no to people.
You know, if your self esteem is low, you need to fix that. If you’re often not feeling well about who you are, it is tough to be happy. I get that. Trust me, I get that.
Um you know, what this means is that we all have our inner issues and our outer variables that we have to learn to contend with. The real world isn’t always kind. So our job is to make sure we are always kind to ourselves first.
One of the easiest ways to change your mindset is to take part in daily gratitude. Make a list of, of a few things, you know, one thing, two things, five things that you are grateful for and start your day off with positive thoughts.
You know, even saying that I’m grateful for being able to breathe or I’m able to sit up, I’m able to touch the ground. Just simple things that some of us take for granted and maybe a challenge for others.
You know while we don’t have control over everything that happens around us, we do have the choice to be happy. People who are happy and successful in life aren’t just lucky. Instead, they appreciate the small things and they surround themselves with people who are positive.
Final Thoughts on Mindset Hacks
You know, once you understand how to break through the funk, you will have less days of worry, frustration, fear, and unhappiness. Will this be an easy fix? No.
However, you will need to put in a bit of effort to break through the funk.
